David and Goliath today.

What did David do to slay the giant? He certainly did not use the armory that was given to him. But, he used a sling shot..."said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied." I Samuel 17:45. And with one shot to the head the giant was down, done and David cut the head off and from that point on it was history. What do ministry people use, what tools do they lean on? Some lean on loud music, demonstrative graphics or visuals, the rock in the music to overpower and excite the senses, right? Well, that is what it does! I have no problem with the visuals in certain places but how unnecessary it is when God is able, capable to show up through one man or one woman in the most simplest, humblest way and in that the audience would be riveted in their seats not because of the music or the visuals but because of the word of God that is strong in a life that is dedicated to God like David.

Yes, many are talented with their voice or with knowing how to play an instrument but if it is not used in a way that truly glorifies God than it is in the way! And it leaves the word of God to no affect and then lives are really not changed they are just "excited".

Drive My Fears Away

Suddenly, I'm afraid
Suddenly, I wonder what I'm doing
Suddenly, I feel left out, alone
Suddenly, I write my thoughts to myself,
to keep busy
It's hard to be so very honest
because it will cost.
I think of Mary Magdelene and Marsha
two different people, two different times
yet their backgrounds similar
Out of the pit He picked them up
out of the murky clay He brought them up.
A slave to their lust and driven beyond
their power.
But a gentlemen He came, with tenderness
in His hands and love beyond all the sin
that bound them.
And as kind as kindness could be, He showed them
the kindness of God. With love overwhelming,
their tears He was drying,
their hearts He was mending,
their fears He drove away.

And then I wonder about myself?
Am I any different than these two
who wept over hurts, pain and distrust

Light Traveling

I want to sore like a bird above,
wind sweeping, engulfs me.
I'm above the clouds, echoes
of heaven now. Light glides
upon me and colors caress me.
Music fills my ears and my body.
Mighty God, song of soul, empty
my longings into your hand
bringing me to the higher land.
Purchased by your blood.
Mighty God, seer of all that moves
and breathes.
Singing a song of deliverance
singing a song of redemption,
singing and echoing, soring above
the night to the light of eternal God.

Your Well

your well is deep
a gift from the
Sovereign hand of God.
Your well is full
to rejoice the hearts
of many.
When your door is
shut the water fills
every point of your land to bitterness.
But when your door is open
it floods many, and sweetens
the smile of your heart
and many.
Your well is deep
is it there for you to keep?
Is it not His gift to you to replenish
the souls of those without?
To fill their hearts with joy
and sweeten their smile?
Keep the door open wide and
hold not deep inside.
For God's door is open wide
and sweetens the hearts of many.

Come and Die

come and die
come and cry
come and let your
heart be filled
to overflowing
of God's unmeasurable
love for you.
come hear his
voice bidding you
to his precious bleeding side
all the sin forgiven
and forgotten.
but come to taste
and see how good
He is.

Beyond the face

I travel beyond your face
to look behind the corner
of your smile, your eyes,
your face.
Around that corner is another place
where another world
unfolds, a world is told.
Layers hidden
then suddenly suspended in space
to who you are, where you are.
Dissecting like a surgeon
I walk through your world and see
the hurt, the gifts, and empty jars.
Unfolding memories of hanging pictures,
scented candles, dirty laundry and
rainbows in your heart.

Cause Me

Cause my eyes to see
may they be focused on thee
in the midst of my longing heart
hear the beat
the crying deep
troubled mind be silenced with ears
brightened with eyes
than the light that brings a message sure
the song with melodies stir
hope springs anew no more adieu
and my heart captured by you.
